If you have a special occasion coming up or want to just go out for a nice dinner, Cafe Maude is the place to be. It is located on Penn Avenue and 54th in Richfield. This adorable restaurant has a unique wine list and the most creative and unexpected food combinations. My aunt and I went to Cafe Maude last weekend and got the Black Forest Pear & Ham Flatbread with herb creme friache, caramelized onions, asparagus topped with pear, baby greens and fontina fondue. I would highly recommend this! They did have a pistachio and chocolate dessert, but I was too full after the amazing food and wine – next time! Plus, they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights, which means this is a perfect date night.
Grilling season is just around the corner, and that means burgers, brats, and dogs – one of my favorite things about summer. This is a staple every year; however, I want something with low-fat and calories. My perfect solution is my mom’s turkey burgers. It is the easiest recipe, delicious, and only 90 calories! Can’t beat that.
1 pound lean ground turkey
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 egg white
1/4 to 1/2 cup fresh or dry bread crumbs
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1. Thoroughly combine all ingredients. Add enough bread crumbs to firm up the mixture.
2. Divide into 6 portions and form into patties
3. Grill, broil, or cook
Every time my mom comes into town we have to go to Gigi’s Cafe. It is located just a few blocks from my house and has AMAZING food. The cute cafe is open for breakfast and late night snacks – so you can get an omelet, delightful danish and bloody mary or gourmet salad, mouth-watering brownie and wine. Plus, the best part is the cost – it is super cheap and the menu is always changing. Check out their website at www.gigisuptown.com.
