Garden Stakes

You can buy these at Anthropologie for a pretty penny or you can make them on your own!  Every antique store has spoons you can purchase for about a dollar, then just hammer the spoon flat and add the herb names of your choice.  How adorable.  I can’t wait until spring and making this craft happen.  For complete directions, go here.

Sewing…do I dare?

Do I dare try to take up the hobby of sewing?  There are so many adorable patterns and fabrics.  Plus, when you find patterns for adorable clutches like the one below, how can you not want to sew!?  Seems simple, but at this point I might have to settle for a friend with an established sewing talent…any takers?  For those of you ambitious enough, you can find the complete directions at http://www.noodle-head.com/2010/04/gathered-clutch-tutorial.html.

Valentine’s Day for Singles

No, I’m not going to spend the night with all my single girlfriends and wear black.  Not that I haven’t before, but that was in my younger days.  Instead, I’m going to tell the people in my life that I love them – it doesn’t have to be a significant other, but I plan on calling my family, dear friends, and taking advantage of “the day for love”.  It is important to surround yourself with love and look to those who you admire.  My parents are more in love today than ever before, and my grandparents were together for over 60 years.  I have inherited some of the valentines that my grandfather gave my grandmother.  Life was so much simpler then.  If you ever run across these in an antique store, take a look at the messages.  It will put things in perspective.

Budget App

For those of you with an iPhone, you must add the AceBudget App.  It is an easy way to track monthly finances.  The app allows you to put in your disposable income and add categories for the types of spending you have each month – Groceries, Eating out, Clothes, etc.  I started using it in the beginning of February, and it definitely has given me an “ah-ha” moment already, considering I have $33.00 left to last me until the end of the month!  🙂  Make 2011 a fiscally responsible year!
