My cousin forwarded me an amazing site today. I think if I were to start my own business, this is what I would want it to be – a stationary, planner, and organization mecca. Check out www.erincondren.com – she is a mom of two that started her own business. My favorite is by far the Lifeplanner. It has everything you can imagine and you can create your own cover design. Also, for all my friends that are getting married, they have adorable “Save the Date” cards and invitations. Check it out!
So I am sure most of you have heard of Groupon, the website that sends you a deal a day via email. It is a great way to get restaurant gift certificates, spa packages, or entertainment deals. Well, there is also Living Social, which is a similar site I just discovered. I am following the Minneapolis/St. Paul area as well as Chicago because some girlfriends and I are going on a trip this summer. Why not get a deal on a restaurant while we are there?!
Since I travel quite a bit through work and am attempting to plan some leisure trips, it is helpful to know when the rates are going to go down and when I should buy. Bing Travel has a great tool called a Fare Predictor. If you go to www.bing.com/travel, then all you have to do is put in your destination and dates, or if you just want to build a trip around cheap tickets, then search without dates, and it will tell you when to buy your ticket. They do not have every airport, but the larger ones are all there. Plus, if it helps save a few bucks – that is a good thing!
I’m getting ready to head to Florida for a work trade show and needed to update my summer wardrobe. One of my friends who will also be attending the trip suggested Dots. There are several locations in the Twin Cities, but the one I went to was at 32 W. 66th Street in Richfield. Check out their website at www.dots.com. I’m not sure if I am the only person who did not know about this store, but it is pretty great! I compare it to Heartbreaker but cheaper – I know, is that even possible! They have dresses for $16 and sandals for $6, plus the chunky fashion jewelry which you are practically stealing with the low prices. Some of the items are a little too flashy for me, but I was able to find a cute tank, t-shirt and skirt. I would highly recommend taking a look!
If you have a special occasion coming up or want to just go out for a nice dinner, Cafe Maude is the place to be. It is located on Penn Avenue and 54th in Richfield. This adorable restaurant has a unique wine list and the most creative and unexpected food combinations. My aunt and I went to Cafe Maude last weekend and got the Black Forest Pear & Ham Flatbread with herb creme friache, caramelized onions, asparagus topped with pear, baby greens and fontina fondue. I would highly recommend this! They did have a pistachio and chocolate dessert, but I was too full after the amazing food and wine – next time! Plus, they have live music on Friday and Saturday nights, which means this is a perfect date night.
I found this picture online and had to share it. I have collected numerous bottles and vases throughout the years at a flea market in northern Wisconsin. I think I need a few more to get this effect, but at least now I have some great inspiration on what to do with the bottles scattered throughout my apartment. My favorite is a blue medicine bottle with “Wisconsin” written on it.
I am so excited spring is here! The only bad thing about spring is being allergic to grass. Every April and May, like so many others, I get the sinus headaches, itchy eyes, and runny nose. This year, however, I found a quick fix which has become my new allergy savior – the Neti Pot! It is a small tea-pot that you fill with water then put a small pack of saline which flushes out the nasal cavities of bacteria and all the nastiness up there. This week I started feeling the effects of my allergies on Monday and of course I had to fly out on Wednesday for work, so I immediately used the Neti Pot twice a day on Monday and Tuesday. By Wednesday, I was ready to fly! I’m not saying this replaces your regular doctor visit or allergy medication, but it is a nice alternative and organic!
I’m on the hunt for a yellow chair for my bedroom. Yellow is such a cheerful color, and it would be a perfect match with my new color theme – grey, black, and white. I definitely need a pop of color. I was doing a search online and found a couple of options that are similar to what I am imagining. I think everyone should have at least one fun chair in their home – a deep purple, light teal, or red – pick your choice, but don’t be afraid of the color.
